The Embassy funds a number of projects through the Strategic Programme Fund and the Bilateral Programme Budget fund of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
1. Human Rights and Democracy Strategic Programme Fund (HRD SPF)
Human Rights and Democracy are a priority for the FCO across the range of our international work. This reflects our values, our international obligations and our interests.
The key objectives of the HRD SPF are:
- To strengthen the effectiveness of the international system to promote and protect human rights
- To improve criminal justice systems and abolish the Death Penalty
- To ensure the equality of women, ethnic and national minorities and disabled people before the law
- To provide support for electoral processes through effective international electoral observations missions and the implementation of their recommendations.
- To promote the freedom of expression
- To promote and protect civil society’s role to influence, monitor and hold accountable state institutions.
2. Bilateral Programme Fund
This is a flexible Embassy fund designed to support the implementation of small, quick impact projects throughout Jordan. The fund supports government and non-government organisations. Project ideas will be considered in a range of fields including poverty alleviation and political, social and economic reform.
How to bid for funds
Potential bidders are encouraged to send in initial concept ideas before working up a full project bid. Projects will be typically managed through the British Embassy in Amman. Projects may be submitted at any time of the year. When a project is submitted/fully developed it will be assessed by a Project Selection Board in London who will make final decisions on funding.
